Old tv shows make me cry. Today, Beaver ran away from home after argueing with his dad about a punishment resulting from Beaver and his friend drilling holes in the the side of the house. (Leave it to Beaver).
When Beaver was brought home after his mom picked him up from a friends house, Beaver asked his dad about when he ran away from home as a kid. And then Beaver asked his dad how it felt when his dad didn’t come after him. All the tension and anger disappeared. Mr Cleaver softened and told his son that he was so focused on being right, that he forgot what it was like to be a little boy… and apologized.
How often do we get stuck on being ‘right’ and forget what it was like to be on the other side of the issue? Sometimes the lesson to be learned isn’t what we thought…
Have an amazing day y’all and as always be kind
