Who is Doni
Many people have an image of who they think I am. To my three sons, I am mom. To the people on social media, I am that girl who can do ‘anything’. To my friends, I am that person who will be there at 3 am. And I am not really sure most times who my husband thinks I am. Most of the time he’s kinda smirking at me in the background.
Legally speaking, I am a natural female. Born in upstate NY, raised all over the place by my nomadic biker parents, including the French Quarter (that would be New Orleans Louisiana for those of you not familiar with southern geography), LeRoy Michigan (don’t worry… no one knows where that is) and inner city Detroit. Residing now in a northern Detroit Suburb, my heart still beats in the Motor City, and yes, I still slip and say y’all. I have a ‘thing’ for Ramona, my 1959 Chevy Kustom, and my Love Child, titled as a 1974 Harley Davidson Sportster. I am a PROUD leader in the Boy Scouts of America, and attend my church regularly. Most people say they don’t understand me. That’s good. Keeps it interesting!
My Current Situation
On October 21st, 2017 my family’s beloved farmhouse endured a horrific fire. Losing our fur babies, a lab named Harley and a beagle affectionately known as Rusty (because who doesn’t want to yell out RUSTY HARLEY outside at random times of the day or night?) was horrible, but none of our human family members were injured. This fire was a major loss and we lost most of our earthly belongings. However, this was the start of an incredible journey into a new realm filled with love, grace and adventure. We are in the process of the rebuild, as the 100 year old studs survived and the house is able to basically be saved. This is the place where a lot of my writings will come from.
Dirty Laundry? Not here.
This is not a place for negativity. This is a place to come a recharge. To learn a thing or two. To be inspired. It may happen that a posting may be sad in nature – but I will always spin a positive message. I want you to know NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. I will be sharing stories from my past. Stories from my present. Dreams for the future. There will be insanity — but it will be real, and hopefully, helpful.
