To lose a loved one is terrible. Even if it’s a furry loved one. We had a house fire almost 3 years ago and we lost our two fur babies as a result. They were the only thing that we lost that literally broke me.
As I was walking around today with my cup looking at things to add to my to do list, I saw their rocks and wanted to share with you some beauty.
The house fire was devastating. It ripped me apart. It showed me that some people are awful and all about themselves. But it also showed me that other people are more giving than I could have ever imagined. I had friends and family on site to help me before we even got back to the house. (We weren’t home at time of fire.) But, more to the point, I had an incredible group of friends that handled the fur babies.
One helped get them out of the house. One took them home in her trunk so another friend who is a vet could take them to work to get them cremated. (Which was donated). Others helped build the garden that they lay in. And a great friend had these rocks made for their spots in the garden.
I reflect on this often. The love that poured out after that day from my group. I love them all so much. You know who you are. I’ll never forget what you did for me, whatever role you played.
Remember to be giving and loving, especially to those in need. Even if that need is just a friend to talk to.
Have an amazing day and be kind.
Ps the castle is part of the memorial to all of Carter’s fish that we lost…
